Environment

The People’s Project is committed to encouraging good environmental practices throughout the region. Our members regularly take part in litter picking activities and provide equipment and information to interested parties.

Looking after the environment

We are committed to using nature friendly practices when gardening throughout the town. Many of the plants we use are recycled from volunteers’ gardens, surplus plants from local shops and plants from bedding displays that are no longer required.

Some of our members take part in beach cleans in conjunction with Dumfries Ecowarriors. One of our members regularly clears litter from the Dumfries bypass and other members litter pick in Dumfries.

Recycling

We encourage the recycling of waste. Wherever possible we use locally sourced mulch to reduce the need for weeding. We have installed signage encouraging people to dispose of their litter appropriately.

We provide litter picking equipment to schools. It can be collected from Three Crowns Court, Dumfries, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please telephone first to order. (01387 253518)
